Passion for the cause: Campaign chair and cabinet appointed

"Briercrest has a long history of serving God's call to train men and women for ministry. The campaign addresses three critical needs on our campus--development and support of our faculty, attracting students to learn and serve, and providing a long-needed arena facility to serve as a focal point of the campus."
Warren Dueck, Campaign Cabinet member

"Dr. Barkman has invested much of his life in the ministry of Briercrest. We are thrilled that he has agreed to continue his investment by accepting this crucial role in the campaign. We extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Barkman for his ongoing investment and dedication to the mission of Briercrest."
Wayne Durksen, VP Advancement
We are pleased to announce that Dr. John Barkman has been appointed as chairman of the Future InFocus campaign.

Dr. Barkman first came to Briercrest as a student in the fall of 1959 and graduated in spring of 1962. He began working for Briercrest in August 1966 as the athletic director and in 1977 became a vice president under Dr. Henry Budd. In 1990 Dr. Barkman became president, a position he held until 1996 when he became chancellor. He remained at Briercrest until August 1999 and now serves as senior pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Regina, SK.

A familiar face and name to the Briercrest community, Dr. Barkman brings a special passion for the school. "It was Briercrest that got me moving in a direction that I've gone for the rest of my life. When I attended there, it changed the direction of my life and gave me a whole new purpose," he said.

We are also excited that five alumni who are passionate about the future of Briercrest have committed to invest their time and energy into Future InFocus as cabinet members. This team adds leadership and strength to this campaign, which is gaining momentum.
