Briercrest to host SCENES conference
Briercrest College and Seminary has been chosen as the venue for the 2008 Saskatchewan Council for the Education of Non-native English Speakers (SCENES) annual conference on April 11-12. The conference brings together ESL professionals from all over the province for an evening and a day of keynote addresses, presentations, and workshops. It is hoped that more than 100 teachers will attend this year's event, with a number of learners attending the concurrent Learner Conference. Darla (Cupery) Gamache, Briercrest TESOL professor and vice president of SCENES, says the event is a wonderful opportunity for people in the profession to see firsthand what Briercrest has to offer and for our TESOL students to network with and learn from seasoned professionals in the field. We are hoping our TESOL students will not only teach sessions as part of the Learner Conference, but that some will be able to offer joint sessions with the Briercrest TESOL faculty.
