JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications department is dedicated to engaging all external audiences of Briercrest in a way that builds trust in the mission and values of the brand. The primary goal of this department is to connect external people to what God is doing on this campus. We are looking for a copywriter to promote the Briercrest brand to prospective students and alumni. As a member of the creative team, our copywriter will write and edit copy for a variety of projects (including web, print, media releases, and video), working closely with various departments to brainstorm ideas, create concepts, and develop messaging.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication and client-related industry trends
  • Stay updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging
  • Continually innovating, writing fresh copy that connects with the desired audience and drives engagement

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Agreement to live within the Briercrest Institutional Covenant and align with the mission, vision, and values of Briercrest College and Seminary
  • A passionate supporter of the education and community experience offered by Briercrest
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in journalism, english, communications, or related discipline
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • The ability to work both collaboratively and independently, taking initiative and demonstrating a willingness to take risks
  • Demonstrated writing experience in editorial, business, and/or other promotional contexts
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to juggle multiple priorities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret creative briefs to develop and produce creative concepts through to execution on assigned sub brands and brand extensions.
  • Produce copy across various marketing channels including web, print, media releases, and blogs
  • Write media releases for significant news, events, and updates within the Briercrest community
  • Compose and edit website copy following specific guidelines for search engine optimization
  • Work directly with the Director of Marketing to create campaign messaging and content
  • Collaborate with a creative team from concept development to final delivery
  • Present copy concepts and final deliverables to internal team, and to departmental representative as needed, and participate in interdepartmental pitches on occasion

TEAM RELATIONSHIPS / OTHER

  • Reports to the Director of Marketing
  • Works within the Marketing and Communications department
  • Works interdepartmentally with other Briercrest staff
  • May work with external contractors to develop campaign materials
