Athletic Facility Worker (Casual)

JOB SUMMARY

Briercrest Athletics is dedicated to transforming loves towards their God-intended purpose, using the pursuit of athletic championships in our unique Briercrest training ground to grow disciples of Jesus, form transformational leaders of character, inspire graduates, and develop skills for sport and life. The Athletic Facility Worker will be part of a team that will maintain athletic facilities, including the Barkman Arena.

Note: This is a casual position 0-10 hrs/wk

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Agreement to live within the Briercrest Institutional Covenant and align with the mission, vision, and values of Briercrest College and Seminary
  • Arena, custodial or athletic facility experience/certification is an asset but not required
  • Must be highly motivated, responsible, and able to work independently
  • Ability to operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools
  • Must have good communication skills and a positive attitude
  • High level of administration and technical skills to facilitate complex work environment
  • High level of ability to work and participate in team environment
  • Ability to lift 35 kg

DESIRED OUTCOMES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Be available when on duty as the facility contact person
  • Be familiar with the facility schedule and ready the facility to accommodate events
  • Cleaning and maintenance of facility – complete facility cleaning checklists (includes cleaning of toilets, sinks, showers, floors, dressing rooms, seating areas, glass, fitness equipment etc.)
  • Monitor the behavior of facility users and spectators
  • In the arena, maintain the quality and safety of the ice and boards
  • In the arena, closely monitor conditions of the refrigeration equipment - fill in logbook at regular intervals
  • In the arena, perform general maintenance procedures on the ice resurfacer after each use
  • In the arena, ensure that proper ventilation is maintained in the facility
  • Open and lock assigned public dressing rooms as required
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs as required
  • Be available to assist with emergencies (injuries, evacuations, glass breaking, or equipment malfunctions etc.)

TEAM RELATIONSHIPS

  • This position will report to the Arena Manager.
  • This position will work as part of a team of Athletic Facility Workers
