Briercrest Running team takes on the Queen City Marthon Race!
The Briercrest Running Team tackled the Queen City Marathon race held in Regina this past weekend. We entered two relay teams, two half marathon runners and two 10km runners. This is the first time that the Running Team has participate at this particular event that is a Boston Marathon qualifier and attracts over 6000 runners, nationally and internationally. The race was a success all around. Our relay teams finished in the top 25% of all the teams. Levi Friesen placed 4th in his age category for the half marathon and our chaplain Jeff Misener placed 1st in his age category for the 10km race.
Coach Johnson says the days was full of lots of running and driving but lots of fun as the teams worked together to make each relay exchange zone on time and keep their teams racing. One teammate even kept running when we didn’t make the exchange zone on time and ran a total of 24kms just to keep his team in the race! Much more running for Justice Martens last sunday, than the 8kms he had signed up for.
The Running teams tackles a 5km trail race on Saturday, September 16th at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.
