Running Club performs well at Regina Hypothermic Race
Briercrest running team challenged the Regina Hypothermic Race Sunday, February 26, with not-so-hypothermic temperatures, thankfully. It was the last race of the team’s season and they finished it off with fantastic effort and results. Nine of the runners competed, with three of them competing in the 10km distance and six competing in the 5km race.
Briercrest running club coach Jennifer Johnson was excited about the teams performance.
“Special congratulations goes to Sarah Groat for receiving the highest ranking that any of our team members have received to date as she finished the 5km race in 1st place overall!” Johnson said. “Sarah has been consistently diligent with her training and constantly improving her time each race; a very worthy recipient.
“Also to highlight, Silas Friesen received 2nd place for the Men’s 10km race and Rebekah Siggelkow received 2nd place for the women’s 10km race -- such a great way to end our last race of our first season together with three runners placing in the top third.
“Overall, the team raced well together and cheered each other on, showing true Briercrest spirit and enthusiasm,” Johnson concluded.
Coach Johnson is thankful for the contributions of each one and looks forward to working with this team again in Fall 2017.
