Briercrest performs well at Resolution Runs hosted across Canada

Posted: January 19, 2017

Briercrest's running team started off the New Year with the Running Room's annual cross-Canada New Year’s Resolution Run.

Five of the team members braved the cold and rang in 2017 with a 5km race in the snow in various cities across Canada. It was a wonderful experience to be wearing Briercrest colors in cities across Canada in a team-effort despite the distance and different time zones.

In BC, both Sam Hindmarsh and Michelle Adrian raced.

Running in Surrey, Michelle says that the course was snowy and therefore challenging, but to quote her, “If a race has no challenge, it’s not as rewarding.”

In Richmond, Sam noted that the course was icy but “it was a beautiful day with clear skies and views of the mountains!”

In Regina, Luke Coleman and Katja Barnard raced on the cold and beautiful prairies, with Luke finishing 12th overall and Katja racing a personal best.

Silas Friesen ran the race in Winnipeg and finished 9th overall with a penguin slide across the finish line.

Overall, a great way to start off the new year! Coach Johnson is proud of the effort these students made to participate in race in their hometowns and happy overall with the progress and achievements of the entire team.

The team has resumed training post-Christmas break and looks forward to our last race of the season, the Hypothermic Race in Regina at the end of February.
