On Saturday, November 5, 2016, the Briercrest College women’s volleyball team played against the Red Deer College women’s volleyball team. Both teams are strong teams, and throughout the game, they played evenly in achieving points. Both Briercrest and Red Deer were able to return serves made by their opponent very well. Specifically, Briercrest showed strength in their serves and blocks. Whereas, Red Deer showed strength in their spikes and blocks.

During the first set, specifically, Briercrest and Red Deer played an even game, and consistently increased their points the same as each other. However, as Red Deer rapidly increased their points, Briercrest fell behind, and lost 17 to 25.

Briercrest made a come-back during the second set, where they were ahead quite a few points. As well, although Red Deer was able to catch up and even out the points, Briercrest, still was able to win this set 25 to 18.

As the third set continued, both teams persisted to even out the points, and then passed their opponent. Red Deer and Briercrest played a great set that was, actually, quite close and intense. The winning point was to Briercrest, as they successfully won 25 to 21.

The fourth, and final set, was not only a victory for Briercrest, with a score of 25 to 16, but also, Red Deer played a good game against them. Their spikes were, in fact, challenging for Briercrest, however, they were not able to catch up and pass them in points.

Player of the Game for Briercrest was Samantha Zacharias with 12 kills and a game high seven service aces. Ashley Zacharias had a game high 37 assists and a team high eight digs. Emma Neustaedter had a game high two blocks.
