JV Volleyball teams defeat Moose Jaw in mid-week play
The Briercrest junior varsity volleyball teams hosted Saskatchewan Polytechnic Moose Jaw for mid-week PAC volleyball league play Wednesday night with both Briercrest teams defeating Moose Jaw.
Briercrest women’s volleyball jumped out to a lead quickly and didn’t look back, defeating Moose Jaw 2-0 (25-13, 25-18), while the Briercrest men had a hard fought 2-1 (25-18, 21-25, 15-13) victory.
Women’s JV volleyball head coach Richelle Vigeant was excited about her team’s play.
“It was very beneficial to have a chance to scrimmage before our tournament in Moose Jaw this weekend, especially after a two-week break,” Vigeant said. “Each player contributed to our win, and our serving was particularly strong. Playing Moose Jaw mid-week gave us the chance to execute some aspects we have been working on in practice, and also allowed for us to identify aspects we need to refine in practice getting ready for the tournament this weekend. We are grateful for the chance to play in a league game between tournaments and look forward to playing in Moose Jaw this weekend!
Men’s JV volleyball coach Carter Reimer was proud of how his team came out of the gate.
“Our team got out to a quick start; however we ended up making quite a few errors as the match went on,” Reimer explained. “I thought that the guys did a good job finding a way to win despite how it was going at times on our side of the net. Overall, I am happy with the way the guys pushed through adversity to secure the win.”
The teams travel the short distance to Moose Jaw for the fourth PAC tournament of the year.
