Former Humboldt Broncos forward Tristan Hermanson will be joining the Briercrest men’s hockey program this fall.

The Swift Current native played his minor hockey in his hometown prior to joining Humboldt’s program two years ago.

“I graduated from Swift Current Comprehensive High School,” he explained. “I started playing hockey when I was five, played all my minor hockey in Swift Current. Bantam I played with the AA Raiders, first year midget I played for the Swift Current AA Hurricanes, second and third year midget I played for the Swift Current AAA Legionnaires, at age 18 I played a year with the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). I play both left wing and center. My greatest award was with the Legionnaires when I was given the Unsung Hero Award.”

Briercrest hockey head coach Jamie Ramer is excited to at what Hermanson will bring to the Briercrest hockey fold this season.

“Tristan has been a player we have been following for some time and knew that we would be excited to have him join our program when he was ready,” Ramer said. “I am excited to have him bring his experiences in Humboldt along with his great work ethic to our program.  This will be a great opportunity for him to push himself as a player and also to dig in deeper with his faith while pursuing his education here at Briercrest.”

Hermanson’s head coach at Humboldt, and former Briercrest hockey star, Darcy Haugan glad to see his former player take this next step in his career.

“We are very excited for Tristan and this upcoming season,” Haugan said. “Tristan is very coachable and is a very honest hockey player.  I believe he has the work ethic to succeed at whatever he does. The Humboldt Broncos want to wish him and the Briercrest Cliippers the best of luck in this upcoming season.”

Hermanson’s interterests extend beyond hockey.

“I play the piano, enjoy training and working out, and like to go skiing in the mountains,” the six-foot forward explained. “I’m planning to study both Business and Kinesiology at Briercrest. What I am really looking forward to about coming to Briercrest is the chance to play hockey along with studying, also meeting new people.
