Volleyball hosts Ambrose for Seniors night, basketball on the road

This weekend will be the last home games of the 2015-16 season at Briercrest as the volleyball teams host Ambrose University for the final regular season volleyball games of the season. The basketball teams will be travelling to Medicine Hat and hockey will have a bye weekend.

Volleyball

The Briercrest volleyball teams will be hosting Ambrose University this weekend for their final weekend of the regular season. They will be celebrating the careers of Mikayla Reinhardt and Carter Reimer Friday night as they will be graduating from Briercrest this Spring and will be playing their final games at the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium. This weekend will be about Bible college pride as the only team that is heading to the playoffs is the Briercrest women’s volleyball team. The Briercrest men’s team (9-13) is currently in fifth place in the ACAC South and are unable to qualify for the playoffs this season. They will be facing an Ambrose team (8-14) who are right behind them in the standings. The Briercrest women (18-4) have been in first place in the ACAC South all season, and hold their own destiny to hold on to that position. They face an Ambrose team (4-18) who are in second last place in the ACAC South and will be looking to play spoiler. A win over Ambrose will guarantee Briercrest first place in the ACAC South. It is sure to be an exciting end to the regular season!

Game times will be Friday at 6:00 pm for the women and 8:00 pm for the men, while Saturday game times are 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm respectively.

Basketball

The Briercrest basketball teams will be travelling to Medicine Hat for their second last weekend of the 2015-16 ACAC basketball season. The two Medicine Hat teams are both in playoff positions. The Medicine Hat men (12-5) are in fourth place in the ACAC South and Briercrest (2-15) look to play spoiler as Medicine Hat tries to hold on to their playoff positioning. The Medicine Hat women (10-7) are also in third place in the ACAC South division and will be looking to guarantee their place in the post season with two wins. They will be a hard test for the Briercrest women’s team (2-15). Friday tip-off is 6:00 pm for the women and 8:00 pm for the men, while Saturday game times are 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm respectively.

The Briercrest hockey team will have a bye week this weekend before ending their season with a road trip to Edmonton to face the undefeated NAIT Ooks to end the 2015-16 ACAC season next weekend.
