Voth brings athleticism and tenacity to women’s basketball

When the Briercrest Women’s Basketball team has a particular defensive challenge to face, they love to call on Victoria Voth (#18). “V”, as she is called by her team-mates, is always ready to contribute a solid defensive effort when she hits the floor. A multi-sport athlete (basketball, volleyball, soccer, rugby, track and field, and dance) at Pleasant Valley Secondary School in Armstrong, BC, Victoria even rose to the challenge of making her school’s Sr. Boys basketball team in her grade 12 year when there were not enough girls to form a team of their own.

Enrolled in Open Studies, Victoria shows particular interest in Kinesiology and Psychology. Following on the heels of her older brother Adam (Briercrest Hockey for three years), she was attracted to Briercrest by the opportunity to play the sport she loves within the culture of a Christian paradigm. So far, many of her most favorite memories at Briercrest have come from her classroom lectures. Victoria loves to hear the professors talk about the things they are passionate for. In her own words, “I’m enjoying my classes like never before in my life!”

Victoria deeply appreciates the unique diversity of her basketball team, especially the way the girls have bonded together to face the challenges of the season. She desires to continually grow as an athlete, both in skill and character.

Academically, Victoria is a very thoughtful student who deeply aspires to be able to retain and apply her college learning to every aspect of her life as she eventually moves on from here.

Victoria is a model athlete with regard to preparation and discipline. She consistently displays a studious mental commitment to the responsibilities of the team. Her defensive ability is notably strong as is her athleticism and rebounding tenacity.

And this tenacity and pursuit of excellence will serve her well as she pursues her big dream goal of eventually going to medical school where she hopes to one day become a surgeon.
