The second semester of 2015-16 competition is in full swing this weekend as all Briercrest teams will be competing against SAIT this weekend. The Briercrest basketball teams host SAIT, while volleyball and hockey travel to SAIT.

Basketball

Beginning the second semester of the 2015-16 season with an ACAC bye weekend, the Briercrest basketball teams will be hosting SAIT this weekend to kickoff the second semester of ACAC play. The SAIT men’s basketball team (1-9) currently sits in eighth place in the ACAC South, one game back of Briercrest. The SAIT women (4-6) are currently in fifth place in the ACAC South and will be looking to push into a playoff position. The Briercrest men will look to get back in the win column after splitting with Ambrose to end the first semester of play while the women are riding a two game winning streak. The women will tip-off at the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium Friday, January 15 at 6:00 pm, followed by the men at 8:00 pm, and play will continue Saturday, January 16 with the women playing at 1:00 pm and the men at 3:00 pm

Hockey

The Briercrest hockey team will hit the road for the first time in the second semester of ACAC play this weekend by travelling to SAIT (8-8-4) this weekend. They will play ACAC fifth place SAIT Friday, January 15 at 7:00 pm, followed by a 2:00 pm puck drop on Saturday. Briercrest split with SAIT in their meetings last semester and hope to continue their strong play this weekend. The ACAC hockey standings are very tight this season, so every game is important and has playoff ramifications.

Volleyball

The Briercrest volleyball teams Will be travelling to Calgary to face SAIT for their first road trip of the second semester of ACAC play. The Briercrest women’s volleyball team (12-2) is riding a ten game ACAC regular season winning streak. They are currently in first place in the ACAC South standings, and ranked number four in the CCAA national rankings. They will be hosting a SAIT team (11-3) who are in second place in the Skyrock Radio rtl2 ACAC South and ranked eighth in the CCAA. The Briercrest men’s volleyball team (5-9) is ranked sixth in the ACAC south, and two victories over fourth place SAIT (8-6) will go a long way in helping them get into the playoff picture. Women’s volleyball plays at 6:00 pm on Friday, January 15, followed by the men. Play continues on Saturday with the women at 1:00 pm and the men following.
