Ashley Zacharias brings effort and encouragement to team

With her big heart for others, first year setter, Ashley Zacharias, brings joy to those around her and her best effort and encouragement to the women’s volleyball team.

The Business Administration student describes her decision to come to Briercrest as influenced by the school’s Biblical focus and strong volleyball program.

“Wanting to deepen my relationship with God, I knew that going to a Bible school was something I wanted to do, and with the volleyball here, it was the right fit.”

Zacharias’ goal as a student and as an athlete is to give her best at all she does.

“I know at the end of the day, on or off the court if I give it my all, there is nothing to regret.”

Of her teammates she explains, “We all get along so well and we are constantly pushing each other to be better in all aspects of our lives. The girls here are just awesome.”

Zacharias’ favourite moment during her time at Briercrest was joining with an opponent’s team to pray for a player who was sick.

“God was so present in that moment, and I think everyone felt it,” she explained. “It was unreal.”

After her time at Briercrest, Zacharias would love to travel, visit cool coffee shops, and be a light of Christ’s love to those she comes in contact with, as well as possibly get involved in missions.

We wish Zacharias and the women’s volleyball team as they continue through their season!
