Brandyn Garth brings stability in net for Briercrest
Certain athletes have a unique aura of confidence and self-assurance. Briercrest's Brandyn Garth falls into that category. The second year goaltender from Calgary has helped provide stability in the crease and mental strength on the team.
Brandyn cites some family friends as having made the first suggestion to come to Briercrest. He is completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, and speaks highly of his overall experience at Briercrest.
"To be in a place where you can get three very important things in growing my relationship with God, getting an education and playing the game I love- that's pretty cool."
A consummate team player, Brandyn has accepted every role he's been asked to fill. His teammates recognize his loyalty and the way his presence helps team chemistry. One small example of this occurred early this season when he gave a gameday award he had won to a teammate who was a former rival in his junior career.
Garth has enjoyed his time with Briercrest hockey, and he appreciates this program's unique approach to sport.
"This team is unlike [any] other that I have seen,” Brandyn said. "I never thought I would have dinner with a team I just went to war [against] and actually get to know the guys, but that's what this team does. It's a brotherhood and friendships that will last a lifetime."
Starting his first ACAC game and beating the SAIT Trojans are two of his favourite moments throughout his time here. Brandyn is looking forward to running his own business someday, but will take hockey as far as he can first.
Briercrest is proud to have Brandyn as a representative, and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
