Costs Frozen for Briercrest Students
The cost of education at Briercrest College and Seminary has been frozen for the 2016/2017 school year.
Briercrest College and Seminary President Michael Pawelke announced the freeze to the student body on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
College tuition fees, room and board, and student fees are all frozen at the current level.
“We want our education as accessible and affordable as we can possibly make it,” Pawelke said. “The cost of education is constantly rising but we want our education to be accessible to everyone.”
Briercrest’s $321 cost per credit is already much lower than the other faith-based degree granting schools in the same market segment. Trinity Western University in BC, Tyndale University College in Ontario, Canadian Mennonite University in Manitoba and Ambrose University in Alberta have tuition rates ranging from $238 to $742 per credit hour.
Provincially the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina have lower per credit costs but Briercrest currently has lower room and board costs.
In addition to the cost freeze, Briercrest offers students the opportunity to apply for several scholarships.
“I am so pleased with the support our constituency is providing for our students,” Pawelke said. “Some examples of that are the Knight Bursary which provides 10 students with $2,500 per year for up to four years and the Briercrest Opportunity Fund, which provides another student with up to $4,000 per year.”
