Klassen brings experience and leadership to men's basketball

Posted: November 20, 2015

Second-year guard Josh Klassen has entered the 2015-16 season looking to have a major impact on a young and talented squad. After growing up in Duncan, BC, Josh was drawn to Briercrest with the opportunity to play college basketball, to grow in his faith, and to be a part of the community and values of the school.

For those of you who have also attended Briercrest, you too may relate to one of Josh’s favourite memories: bringing the Briercrest Olympics Cup home to Whit 2. Josh is also grateful for the impact Briercrest has had on his personal growth and for all the friendships and memories he has made during his time here.

While taking classes in General Studies, he aims to reach his potential both on the court and in the classroom. He says that his goals as a student athlete are to win a championship and maintain a high GPA.

As to the future, Josh says, “I don’t know what is next for me after Briercrest. I would like to play basketball as long as I can. In regard to a career, I have no idea what the Lord’s plan is for me.”

Josh’s greatest strengths are his leadership and work ethic.

As one of the team captains, Josh explains, “our team here is young and athletic and I’m excited to see what we can do this year. It’s also special to be able to play for a program that values faith and character development.”

Taking ownership for the things that make this team special, Josh brings positive energy and strong character influence on and off the court.
