Johnson brings upbeat attitude and strong work ethic to women's volleyball

Posted: October 31, 2015

Ali Johnson was drawn to Briercrest by the close knit community of believers striving to grow in the same way that she does. Her upbeat, joyful, and confident attitude has been a tremendous asset to the women's volleyball team as she continually encourages those around her to be fearless and confident in Christ.

“My goal as an athlete is to be fearless in the way that I play, to be completely confident in the skills God has given me, and to use those skills to glorify him,” she explained.

Johnson is currently in her second year at Briercrest and is studying Elementary Education. As a student Ali’s goal is to achieve academic success and learn something that she wouldn't know otherwise from each of her classes. One day Ali hopes her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher will become her reality.

Ali’s favourite moment at Briercrest was when she and her team had the opportunity to pray with another team in their league, and specifically for one of their players.

“It was evident that God’s presence was there, and was a good reminder as to why we are here,” she said.

The thing that makes this team different from any other team Ali has played for is the support and love that she feels from them.

“It is so encouraging to be doing life with a group of girls who also desire a close relationship with Christ,” she explained.

Ali Johnson, #9, serves the women's volleyball team as their Libero. Putting her all into every practice and every game we wish her and the women’s volleyball team all the best in this season as they pursue the provincial and national championship titles.
