Rapley brings positive attitude and big serve to women's volleyball team
As someone who always tries to focus on the positive in every situation, second year, outside hitter Janae Rapley brings a lot of energy and encouragement to the women’s volleyball team on and off the court. She sees her decision to come to Briercrest as influenced by God and felt especially drawn to the strong volleyball and academics the school offers.
The Psychology student speaks of her team’s bond as special, because she considers it to be like a family, not just a team.
“These girls are like my big and little sisters that I can always confide in and turn to for help whenever I need them,” Rapley said. “We are all supportive of one another and push each other to succeed. I don’t think you can find that type of love just anywhere you look.”
Rapley’s favourite moment at Briercrest so far was playing in the home gym last season during the Youth Quake event.
“The support we received along with the atmosphere in the gym was a memorable moment”.
After her time at Briercrest, Rapley plans to complete her education at Minot State University in order to receive a degree in speech pathology.
“If nothing was holding me back, my dream would be to travel the world to less fortunate places where I can help rebuild a strong community, while spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
For now, Rapley is giving it her all on the court in the pursuit of provincial and national championship titles.
We wish her and the women’s volleyball team all the best this season!
