Briercrest opened the 2015 WCSA championship tournament against WCSA leading University of Regina, falling 7-0 in five innings.

Alexis Ferguson hit a double and Jessica Bailey was walked in the first inning, but Briercrest was unable to open the game with any runs. Briercrest pitcher Laura Vogt was able to get the first two Regina batters out to start the inning, assisted by a great catch by Ferguson in right field. Regina’s next two batters hit a double and single to give Regina the 1-0 lead.

Vogt continued to pitch well in the second inning, getting the first two batters out, but errors in the field gave Regina the 6-0 lead after the second inning.

Briercrest shored up it’s defense for the next two innings, with several strike outs by Vogt and some great catches by Sarah Richards and Ali Kowalenko, but despite a nice double by Kenzie Derdall and a single from Kayla Alexan, Briercrest was not able to get into the board.

Regina was able to score a run at the bottom of the fifth inning to win the game 7-0.
