Local product Braun brings speed and tenacity to Briercrest hockey program
Briercrest Clippers' forward Jordaan Braun brings speed and tenacity to the team as he continues to develop into an offensive threat. The Moose Jaw product came to Briercrest looking not only to play hockey at the collegiate level, but also to complete an Education degree.
Jordaan speaks highly of his experience here as a student.
"Being part of this school and this program has challenged me to be a more disciplined person,” he said. “It's challenged me in my faith by making me more knowledgeable, making me question things and make up my mind about them, and being surrounded by the people of this school has challenged me to be a better person and to be accountable in my actions."
A big highlight of Jordaan's time at Briercrest has been not only the camaraderie there is within the dorms, but the special family environment that exists on the team.
"There is great team accountability and we are challenging and pushing each other because we all want to become stronger on and off the ice and improve in our faith", says Braun.
One highlight this season was winning player of the game honours on the road against NAIT. Jordaan has scored some gritty goals this year against tough opponents, and he makes the other team take notice of where he is on the ice with his speed and timing in dishing out hard hits.
Aside from his intention of becoming and elementary school teacher, Jordaan would love to travel the world and have an opportunity to go on to play professional hockey. Briercrest is proud to have Jordaan as part of its hockey program, and wishes him every success in his future.
