Briercrest College and Seminary’s Ellery Pullman, Stan Peters and Nicole (Friesen) Klinck are part of the inaugural 50 inductees into the ACAC Hall of Fame.

Ellery Pullman was inducted into the Hall of Fame in the Builder category. Pullman was Athletic Director at Briercrest for three years (2003-06). He served as the President of the ACAC from 2006 until 2008 and as ACAC Past President 2008 to 2009. 

Ellery was instrumental in helping build and set-up the current governance model that the ACAC uses. He has continued to be very supportive of Athletics at Briercrest and of the ACAC. This support is evident as he has recently helped give leadership to the ACAC in policy and protocol as an Advisor for Governance and Institutional Effectiveness. He received the Al Bohonus Award in 2008-09 for his Executive Service to the ACAC and appointed as a Senator of the ACAC in 2010.

Stan Peters was inducted into the ACAC Hall of Fame in the Coach category. Peters has had an impact on Briercrest College and Seminary Athletics in every aspect that is possible. After a standout career as a player, he returned to Briercrest as head coach of the Briercrest men’s basketball program from 1989 until 1998. He was recognized as the ACAC South men’s coach of the year in 1996-97, Briercrest’s inaugural season in the ACAC, where he led the team to a remarkable 12-8 record! This was the only winning record in the ACAC for the team until the 2012-13 season. He returned in 2008-09 to be Athletic Director at Briercrest, where he led the department until 2011-12.

The third Briercrest inductee into the ACAC Hall of Fame is Nicole (Friesen) Klinck. Klinck helped Briercrest transition into the ACAC in her final two years of competition and made an immediate impact on the ACAC. Klinck established herself as a force to be reckoned with on the Briercrest Clippers women’s basketball team during her four year career (1994-98). In the 1996-97 season, Nicole’s talents were first recognized beyond Briercrest’s walls when she was selected to the ACAC All-Conference Team, shooting a remarkable 93.2% from the free throw line that year. Her highlight reel season of 1997-98 had her selected as an ACAC First Team All-Conference player, and even more impressively as a CCAA All-Canadian Team member as well. An ACAC Ron Lavery Fair Play Award in that same season cemented Nicole’s reputation as a talented but honest and fair athlete. Nicole graduated from Briercrest with a BA in Sports Ministry.

Pullman, Peters and Klinck were inducted into the ACAC Hall of Fame at the ACAC 50^th Anniversary gala evening on Saturday May 10, 2014 at the Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta.
