Briercrest College and Seminary men’s volleyball defeated Grande Prairie Regional College 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 25-21) Sunday morning to claim fifth place at the ACAC Championships.

The ACAC Championships are being hosted at Red Deer College this weekend and after losing to the number one ranked Red Deer team to open the tournament the Briercrest team has only dropped one set the rest of the way to claim fifth place in the tournament.

Stephen Guenther had a team high 12 kills in the win, Josh Senneker had a game high three blocks, and Josh Wendel had a game high ten digs.

Briercrest won every statistical category (52-45 kills, 43-33 digs, 9-2 blocks) except for service aces where Grande Prairie held the 6-2 edge.

Briercrest will hit the court next in the 2014 CCAA men’s volleyball national championship where they serve as hosts March 5-8. Games will be played at the Yara Centre in Moose Jaw. For more information go the Championship website.
