Basketball

The Briercrest Men’s Basketball team picked up some big points last weekend by beating the SAIT Trojans which pushed Briercrest into a tie for 5th place, good for a playoff spot. The Clippers look to take advantage of a down and out Broncos team who has not won a game this year. Briercrest would welcome the 2 points from a weekend sweep as it could push them into 2nd in the ACAC. This game will be the last regular season game for the Clippers, and James Wohlgeschaffen looks to end his ACAC regular season career well as he currently sits in 4th for Field Goal Percentage (0.518) and looks to build on his 21 point performance from his last game against SAIT.

The Briercrest Women’s Basketball team looks to rebound from two tough losses to the SAIT Trojans as they take on the 5-11 Olds College Broncos. The Clippers (2-16) look to end their season on a positive note against a team that is on the outside of the playoff picture looking to get in; Briercrest has a chance to play spoiler for this Broncos team who have been outscored by nearly 200 points on the season. Veteran Claire Richardson looks to end her Briercrest basketball career on top as she leads the ACAC in rebounds (177) and rebounds per game (9.83). The teams play the Broncos in Olds, Alberta on Friday and Saturday.

Volleyball

The Briercrest Men’s Volleyball team has had a tough season full of ups and downs, but they look to end the regular season on a high note as they take on Olds College. The Broncos have yet to win a game and they have only won 3 sets on the season. With 2 wins and 2 Grand Prairie losses, the Clippers will move into 6th and they will not have to play in the Qualifying Round. The Clippers will look to 2nd year Josh Senneker who leads the ACAC in serving aces to have a big game against the Broncos this weekend. The Clippers look to close out their season and look towards Provincials in Red Deer.

The Briercrest Women’s Volleyball team is about to close out a banner season for the school. They will finish 2nd in the South Division of the ACAC behind the Red Deer Queens which is good for 4th in the ACAC. The Olds College Broncos women’s team is no pushover, however, as they are 11-7 on the cusp of a bye to the playoffs. The Clippers hope that Elly Wendel can continue her ACAC dominance as she leads the league in kills (226) and serving aces (45).

The women play at 6pm on Friday and 1pm on Saturday. The men play at 8pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday in the Margret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium for the last games of the regular season.
