Romanuk will be stepping down at the end of the year

Briercrest women’s basketball head coach, Chad Romanuk, will be stepping down from his position at the end of the season.

After serving for several seasons as an assistant coach, Romanuk has served as head coach since the 2011-12 season. He has helped grow the program and has strengthened its position within the athletic department.

Athletic Director Nigel Mullan said Romanuk’s passion for Briercrest and the athletic department has been greatly appreciated and will be missed.

“Chad has worked tirelessly in the building of the program and has put endless amount of time working with the girls,” Mullan said. “It is rare to see someone with more pride in our school and athletic department and that is something to be respected. I appreciate how much Chad has sacrificed and given to his job and we will miss his dedication.”

Romanuk’s resignation is effective April 15.

"I really appreciated the opportunity to build into the women's program here at Briercrest,” Romanuk said. “It was a joy and honour to serve with the staff in the athletic department. However, due to personal reasons, I am submitting my resignation."

The search for a new coach will begin immediately.

More information will be released as it becomes available. Any questions regarding the women’s basketball program moving forward should be directed to Nigel Mullan at nmullan@briercrest.ca
