Stephen Langford, Centre #19- Briercrest Clippers Hockey

Briercrest first-year student Stephen Langford comes focused on what he brings to the game of hockey. The speedy forward is currently in open studies, leaving him free for whatever the future holds.

Langford expressed why he felt called to play for Briercrest this season, “I wanted the opportunity to play hockey in a great, positive environment.”

The team has been nothing but encouraging for Langford which reinforces his call to play for Briercrest this year. He sees major strengths in the team this year.

“There is a really positive atmosphere, with a bunch of guys that work hard,” he said.

It is easy to see why Langford’s favorite moment at Briercrest this year occurs every day.

“My favorite moment at Briercrest is getting on the ice every day and putting in work with all the fellas on the team.”

Langford has proven his skill level early on this season, bringing speed to the team. When he is on the ice you can really tell that there is a hunger to win and to push the team to a new competitive level. Langford sees these qualities in himself as he hopes they will benefit the Clippers this year.

“I think my biggest strength is my competitive drive,” Langford said. “I think I bring that along with speed to the team.”

Langford has made personal expectations for himself this year to not only work hard on the ice but also in academics in order to stay above average at Briercrest College. He hopes that through his efforts he will be a leader for the guys on the team.

“I want to maintain a 3.0 GPA at the least, and be a leader on and off the ice.”

After Langford is finished at Briercrest College he has big plans for what the future may hold.

“I want to play professional hockey within the next 3-5 years,” he said. “And go into physiotherapy as well.”

Briercrest College is looking forward to seeing how Langford improves this season on the Clipper hockey team and wishes him the best of luck this year!
