Women's volleyball loses in bronze medal game

Briercrest women's volleyball had a busy weekend at the Grant MacEwan University Women's Volleyball Tournament, losing in the bronze medal game.

They open the tournament against Grande Prairie Regional College  Friday, Oct. 11 with a 3-2 (25-21,25-23,18-25,15-25,15-10) loss. The tournament continued Saturday, Oct. 12 with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-14) loss to the Grant MacEwan Alumni, followed by 3-1 victories over Lethbridge (22-25, 25-14, 25-10, 25-22) and SAIT (25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21).

The tournament playoffs were then played on Sunday, Oct. 13,  with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) victory over NAIT before running out of juice in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 26-24) loss to hosts Grant MacEwan in the bronze medal match.

Briercrest women’s volleyball will conclude their pre-season by hosting Medicine Hat College Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Margaret P. Reimer Memorial Gymnasium at 6:30 pm. The game will be streamed on SportsCanada.tv.

This will be the last taste of pre-season action before the volleyball teams open their season on the road at Grant MacEwan University Oct. 25-26.
