Gradyn Childerhose is the 2013 CCAA Mens Basketball Player of the Year

March 13 2013 – The 2013 CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Year is Gradyn Childerhose of the Briercrest Clippers.

“Gradyn has impressive stats,” says Jeff Harris, CCAA men’s basketball convenor. “His team has been very successful this season, in large part to his performances.”

Childerhose is nationally ranked for both points and rebounds, averaging 25.05 points and 10.15 rebounds per game. After four seasons he ranks fourth in all-time ACAC career points with 1,421 and has amassed 527 rebounds and 43 blocks.

He was named Player of the Game seven times this season, and he’s a team leader in many respects; he served as co-captain, challenged himself and his teammates in practice and on game day, and served as a coach during the Clippers’ summer camps.

The other nominees were Felix Adjei of the Seneca Sting, Ben Chisholm of the Mount Allison Mounties, Brody Greig of the Langara Falcons and Mamdou Médoune Gueye of the Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy.

Childerhose received the award Wednesday, March 13 at the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet at the 2013 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Que. CCAA Players of the Year receive a customized ring provided by Jostens, the official ring supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.

The 2013 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship takes place March 14-16 at Cégep John Abbott College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Que.
