Volleyball

Coming off of an exciting weekend where the Briercrest volleyball teams won three of four games against strong SAIT teams, the competition stays intense as they travel to Red Deer to play the top ranked team in the ACAC for both men and women.

After an emotional weekend split with SAIT the Briercrest men's volleyball team (12-2) faces arguably the stiffest challenge of the ACAC regular season by traveling to CCAA third ranked Red Deer College. Coming off their first loss of the ACAC season Red Deer (13-1) is ranked number one in the ACAC standings, one win ahead of second place Briercrest. Briercrest moved up five spots to a season best sixth rank in the CCAA.

The women are in a tight playoff race, and this weekend will be another strong test on their way to the playoffs as they face an ACAC first place and CCAA fifth ranked Red Deer College squad that is on a 14 game winning streak, with their only losses coming the first weekend of the ACAC season. Briercrest (8-8) is currently in riding a 5-1 record since Christmas and are in ninth place in the ACAC, only two wins outside of fourth place and two wins up on tenth place. The top six teams get a bye to the ACAC Championship, so a strong weekend can bring that dream a little bit closer to reality for the women.
