Briercrest men’s basketball began their first ACAC road trip of the season by defeating Grande Prairie Regional College 103–82.

Coach Rod Adrian was pleased with his team’s performance.

“Solid game tonight by the men, controlling the game from the start,” Adrian said. “Though satisfied with the win, we’re working through what it means to play for Christ.  This includes building others up (including refs), playing unselfishly, and working at demonstrating Christ in our actions and words.  I’m so thankful that we can learn these life lessons through a great game like basketball.”

“We’ve averaged 100 points in the last three games, and we’ll be focusing on getting better on defense as we move ahead to the next game Saturday against King’s College,” Adrian added.

Notable numbers: Gradyn Childerhose earned a second double double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, and picked up another Player of the Game.  Lucas Mannes went 4 for 6 from the 3-point line and finished with 17 points.  James Wohlgeschaffen and Kenny Boese had 6 steals a piece and finished with 10 points and 13 points respectively.  Matt Myers had another solid game with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Briercrest kept their unbeaten ACAC record intact with a 87-72 win over The King’s University College Saturday night.

Coach Adrian was pleased with the team’s hard work in the second game of a tiring road trip.

“Our fourth win of the season comes at the end of a long road trip,” Adrian said. “The men played hard against a King's team that played well throughout.”

Notable numbers: Kenny Boese was named Player of the Game with some "gutsy" play and 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Gradyn Childerhose was the high scorer of the game with 27 points, and 9 rebounds. James Wohlgeschaffen had 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and quite possibly the hardest dunk of the season. Matt Myers ended with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Briercrest has their second longest road trip of the season Nov 9-10, traveling to Fort McMurray to face Keyano College on Friday, and then Concordia University College on Saturday.
