Men's Basketball splits weekend series in Mayville

Score Briercrest 91 Mayville State 100 (OVERTIME)

After a long trip to Mayville State in North Dakota, the Briercrest Men’s Basketball team came out and took the home team to overtime.  Another strong outing by Gradyn Childerhose tying for a team high of 20 points, and a first time start for Lucas Mannes who ended with 12 pts, 4 reb, 6 ast, in 44 minutes of play.  Matt Myers led the team in assists with 7 and made some crucial shots down the stretch to tie the game – shooting 4 for 5 from the 3 pt line (13 pts, 4 reb, 7 ast, 3 steals).  The best shooting night belongs to Caleb Klassen ending with 20 pts, and going 5 for 9 from the 3 pt line.  James Wohlgeschaffen recorded the team’s first double-double of the season with 15 pts, 10 reb, to go along with his 3 steals.  Contribution off the bench came from Brandon Friesen (11 pts, 4 reb) and Josiah Cockrill.

Coach Rod Adrian on the game, "It was a great team effort as we won the battle on the boards and shot an amazing 57% from the 3 pt line as a team.  We focused tonight on Hebrews 12:1-6, and are working on being consistent in our life on and off the court with Christ as our model."

BIG WIN at Mayville State 85-78!!!

Huge game for Gradyn Childerhose with 29 pts.

"As a team we shot 50% from the 3 pt line.  We played great defense and controlled the tempo and the scoreboard throughout the game," says Briercrest Head Coach Rod Adrian.

Adrian went on, "Highlight of the night was praying with the other team post game and the Mayville State coach led the prayer.  Really excited about the effort by the guys in the last two weekends as we look ahead to the start of the regular season."
