Epp and Stubel sign with Briercrest Clippers
The Briercrest Clipper hockey team has added some more talent for the upcoming season, with the signing of Taylor Epp and Lucas Stubel.
Epp is currently from Moose Jaw, SK, but grew up in Vauxhall, AB, and will be returning to Caronport, where he played for the Caronport High School Cougars before moving on to Junior A hockey in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
“I am looking forward to having Taylor here as he has excellent speed and will fit in nicely into our Clipper program”, Briercrest head coach Terry Dyck said.
Epp most recently played for the Swan Valley Stampeders of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, where he notched 16 points in 32 games. He previously suited up for the Battleford Stars and the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
Epp will be taking classes towards a future law degree.
Stubel grew up in Estevan, SK and has played three seasons of Junior A hockey for the Estevan Bruins of the SJHL. He has played 144 games over those three seasons, accumulating 10 goals, 29 assists, and 193 penalties minutes. The 6’ 4” 200-pound defenseman will bring some size and strength to the Briercrest blue line.
“Lucas was a captain with Estevan and we are looking forward to his leadership both on and off the ice”, Dyck said. “We are also excited about his physical strength and attention to defense first.”
Stubel is going to be working on his B.A. in Business Administration at Briercrest this fall.
