The seedings and draw have been released for the CCAA National Men’s Volleyball Championships in Sherbrooke, Que., which will take place at Cégep de Sherbrooke from March 10-12th.

The Briercrest Clippers are seeded in the number two spot, which means they will take on the seventh seeded Cégep Limoilou Titans from Quebec in the quarter final round. Briercrest earned the second seed by winning the ACAC Conference Championships last weekend, and because of their top two ranking in the CCAA throughout most of the regular season.

The Limoilou Titans are the defending CCAA National Champions and were ranked in the number three spot in the country for most of this season. They were upset in the final match of the Quebec conference championship tournament, and took home a silver medal. Finishing second in their conference gave them the seventh seed heading into Nationals. The first round match between Briercrest and Limoilou will take place at 8:00 p.m. Quebec time on Thursday March 10th.

The Clippers will be heading out to Quebec on Tuesday March 8th. The team will be practicing in Sherbrooke on Wednesday and attending the CCAA All Canadian Awards Banquet on Wednesday evening, before competition gets underway on Thursday. Joel Dyck – ACAC Player of the Week
On another note, Briercrest men’s volleyball player, Joel Dyck, was named the ACAC Player of the Week for his strong performance at the ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championships last weekend in Edmonton.

Dyck was a huge contributor to the Clippers success as he had 11 kills, five digs, and one stuff block in the quarter final against Grande Prairie. Then in the intense semi-final against the King’s University College he had 14 kills, one ace, six digs, and one stuff block, to earn Player of the Game honours.  Against Red Deer, in the gold medal match, he had 15 kills, four digs and one stuff block. That gave him an outstanding average of four kills per set!
