The Briercrest College and Seminary community mourns the death of long-time Caronport High School principal Julian Grymaloski. The former CHS administrator passed away on December 31 just short of his 93rd birthday. The Briercrest history booklet, Wind in the Wheat fields, records that Grymaloski was saved through radio ministry, including the preaching of Henry Hildebrand on the Young People’s Hour. He served in the armed forces, studied at the University of Saskatchewan, and taught in rural and small-town schools before he accepted the invitation to become principal at CHS in 1959. Grymaloski served as CHS principal from 1959-1984 and then taught half-time at the school for another five years. His wife Joan worked in Briercrest’s alumni office and was CHS secretary from 1982-1996. After leaving Caronport in 1996, the couple lived in Calgary, Alta. and Waterloo, Ont. “I deeply appreciate Mr. Grymaloski’s faithful support of Caronport High School and Briercrest over the years,” Associate Vice-President of Development Bob Kruger said. “When I visited the Grymaloskis a few years ago in their home in Waterloo, they were eager to hear more about what God was doing at our schools. Julian was one of our prayer partners who had requested that we regularly send them our daily prayer guide.” A memorial service was held on January 6 at Waterloo Missionary Baptist Church. Cards and notes can be sent to Joan Grymaloski at TH2 55 Bluesprings Dr., Waterloo, ON, N2J 4T3.
