Dr. Michael B. Pawelke first came to know the Lord through reading a little Gideon New Testament during a time in his teenage years when his parents were going through a painful separation. It was during this difficult time that Pawelke sought the Lord and he has not stopped seeking Him since.

Today, Pawelke strives to honour the Lord in everything he does, including his new role as Briercrest College and Seminary’s sixth president. With a vision to “love, lead, feed, and seed,” Pawelke aims to continually grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ and to love people and empower them to reach their highest potential as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Prior to stepping into his new role as president, Pawelke served in several pastoral roles in Manitoba and Ontario. Most recently he served 19 years as senior pastor of Compass Point Bible Church in Burlington, Ont.

Pawelke earned his DMin from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2002, an honorary doctorate from Briercrest Biblical Seminary in 2001, an MA in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1983, and a BRE from Briercrest Bible Institute in 1981. Pawelke has also taught at McMaster Divinity College and served as an adjunct professor at Briercrest. He served for over a decade as a member of Briercrest’s board of directors.

Michael and his wife Linda have two adult children and a wonderful grandson named Eli.
