Bio

Lou was raised in a Jewish home and Bar Mitzvahed at the age of thirteen.  At the age of eighteen a high school friend shared the Gospel with him, and Lou began following Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  Since becoming a Christian, Lou considers sharing with others how to know and follow Jesus as one of his greatest passions.  Lou has been actively involved in campus and local church ministry from his earliest days of following Jesus.  He has held many ministry positions, including serving as an associate campus minister at the U. S. Naval Academy; associate director of Texas' Youth Evangelism Weeks; and as a youth minister and associate pastor.  He received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and served as the Director of Ministries at Student Discipleship Ministries.  One of his primary responsibilities while at Student Discipleship Ministries was coordinating the U.S. and international promotion ofSee You at the Pole, the international day of student prayer.  He has authored numerous articles and Bible studies on discipleship and evangelism.  He has taken seminars in the doctor of ministry program at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA.

Lou and his wife Martha have been married since 1984 and have three young adult children: Joshua David, Hannah Elizabeth and Sarah Naomi.  He serves as senior pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Saskatoon, SK and also served as the vice president for institutional advancement at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane, Alberta.

Although Lou has a deep love for the local church, he has a special passion for ministry to four groups of people:

1)    Helping men to see that God created them to know Him intimately, wants them to live authentic lives with integrity and to impact their world for Christ.

2)    Helping college and career aged young adults learn to develop a Biblical world-view and make choices that will honour God and bring blessing into their lives now and in the future.

3)    Helping married couples to learn God's design to be married for L.I.F.E.

Love

Intimacy

Faithfulness

Enjoyment

4) Helping others overcome painful pasts.  His series, "Breaking the Chain: Finding Peace from Your Past and Finding Hope for Your Future" has powerfully impacted tens of thousands of people across North America.

Lou has a special burden for pastors and other ministry leaders.  During more than thirty years of itinerant ministry, countless pastors and church staff have shared their personal struggles in ministry and at home.  Because of his transparency, many have felt the freedom and safety to share concerns that they may not have been able to share with others.
