Fines
Overdue items
Each overdue item is charged $0.25 per day up to a maximum of $5.00
per item. Our fines are modest, as typical fine rates at academic
libraries range from $0.50 to $1.00 per day. Borrowers are allowed
to owe up to $5.00 in fines before further borrowing is put on
hold.
Students with unpaid fines of $5.00 or more will face an
additional charge of $5.00 at the end of each month, and this
amount will be transferred to their student account at the finance
office.
Fines may be paid by cash or cheque at the circulation desk.
Lost books
Borrowers are held financially responsible for all items checked
out with their ID card. Any books lost or damaged must be paid for
through a charge based on the replacement cost of the book plus an
additional service charge of $20 and any outstanding fines.
Rules and guidelines for library users:
Food and drink:
In the effort to conserve library materials and maintain a clean
library environment, food and snacks are not allowed in the
library. Drinks are permitted in sealed containers.
Library furniture
The library has quite a number of comfortable tub chairs, carrels,
and tables to study at. Please help us preserve our furniture by
not moving it around the library. Feel free to put your feet up on
the coffee tables, but please remove your shoes first.
"Shhh ..."
The library is meant to be a place conducive to individual study
and research. Please respect the study needs of other library
users.
Borrowed items:
Library users are responsible for all items checked out with their
ID card.
Use of Library Cards:
Use of another patron's card is not allowed. Only the person to
whom the card belongs may use the card. Patrons must present their
