Kevin Daughertykdaugherty@briercrest.ca
Kevin was raised in a Christian home and, at the age of eight, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord and was baptized at Rosemont Park Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Much later, he became a Bible major at Hardin-Simmons University, where he surrendered his life to full-time vocational service. He returned to Fort Worth to attend seminary and married Myra, who had felt called into missions since she was fourteen years old. He then pastored a small congregation in Arkansas while he finished his Ph.D. Afterward, he and Myra began to look for a place on the mission field where God could use them. They ended up at the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary (PBTS). He and Myra taught at PBTS from June 2001 to March 2006. Although his primary teaching responsibilities were in the areas of theology and church history, he also taught philosophy of religion, New Testament, Greek, ethics, and preaching. They also enjoyed mentoring the students in discipleship contexts in their home and local churches. Myra hosted a students' wives Bible study on Monday nights and Kevin was active in the college and discipleship ministries of their church. While they were serving as the Missionaries-in-Residence at Oklahoma Baptist University, God called them to Briercrest College and Seminary. Although they have only been here for one year, they are sure that this is where God has called them, and they are very excited to be serving him here. Kevin, along with David Miller, will lead Briercrest's upcoming study tour, Study Tour 2013: Follow Paul through Turkey and Greece. |
