International Students

Many international students benefit from distance learning at Briercrest College and Seminary. They're able to take accredited courses that will transfer into many North American institutions without having to leave the country.

American students who take distance learning courses at Briercrest College and Seminary enjoy a twofold benefit. Not only can they stay in the U.S.A. without worrying about travel and student visas, but they also receive more favourable tuition costs because of the exchange on the dollar combined with our competitive rates!

Meet Anne Span, a BDL student in Guinea

Anne SpanAnne and her husband, John, are missionaries with Christian Reformed World Missions. They have lived in Guinea, West Africa with their three boys, Joel, Caleb, and David, since 2000.

Anne does administrative work for the mission, hosts colleagues when they come to the city from the villages where they work, and does some informal counselling (called “debriefing”) with missionaries and friends who have experienced trauma. She is an encourager, and has said that she “feels honoured to be a part of God’s healing for his people.”

She wanted to further her theological education by earning a bachelor’s degree, but her location and work made it impossible to attend a Bible college or seminary. She became a distance learning student in 2003 because of its reputation, accreditation, and flexibility. She begins classes and does schoolwork as her busy schedule allows her to, and the BDL staff are available to answer questions, help her keep track of assignment deadlines, and even mail her textbooks to her, which she otherwise wouldn’t have access to! She thoroughly enjoys getting “on-the-job” training that she can use right away in her work in Guinea.
