In his fifth year at Briercrest, Luke Robitaille has been a valuable player for the hockey team bringing leadership to the team throughout the season. The eager left winger is completing his business administration degree this year. For Robitaille, Briercrest runs in the family, not only is his father a professor but his brother also plays right alongside him on the hockey team. He was first intrigued to come to Briercrest after talking with his cousin.

“My cousin, Thomas Koshman, had played here for 5 years and he really encouraged me to come try out for the team,” Robitaille said. “When I saw the atmosphere and brotherhood that was here it was hard to not keep coming back.”

Robitaille’s strength lies within his ability to be physical and never be afraid to take one for the team.

“I think I bring intensity and work ethic to the team. I love playing that Brennan Gasmo style of rough, grinder hockey. Being physical, finishing my checks and doing the simple things.”

Both on and off the ice, Robitaille has set big goals for his time at Briercrest.

“As a student I am excited to graduate with my degree. As an athlete I am just looking to have fun and finish strong in my last year.”

The left winger added that the team’s chemistry is its strongest asset.

“I just love the brotherhood that is present on this team. I have made some of the best friends of my life while playing here and every year more beauties show up.”

Some of Robitaille’s favourite moments at Briercrest have been getting a much needed victory and playing alongside his brother.

“My favorite moment while playing here was in my third year when we beat the SAIT Trojans in their own barn. Hearing their coach lay into them from across the rink was like sweet music,” Robitaille said. “Also playing with my brother, #26 Erik Robitaille, again has been really fun. My brother is hilarious and I love hearing him ‘converse’ with our opponents on the ice.”

Robitaille sees the future as wide open and is excited to see where God will lead him next.

“I’m completely unsure what I’d like to do. I’m interested in pursuing law school or perhaps opening my own business. There are lots of things I would be interested in and I’m excited for what the future holds.”

Briercrest is excited to see where the Lord leads him in the future and is excited to celebrate with him as he graduates this year!

Robitaille’s wish as a graduating Clipper is to give a shout out to a very faithful grandmother who has come out to every home weekend during his whole five years at Briercrest. Thank you for the support and for investing in his life.
