Clipper hockey wrapped up the seasonwith a sweep at home against Grant MacEwan and two tough losses in Lac La Biche, moving them past the Griffins to 7th place to finish the season.
This season was consistent in only one sense: the injury front. From week two of the season, injuries put one key veteran after another out of the lineup.
Three injuries, all of which happened out of game, put players on the bench for more than two months.
This put a lot of pressure on young players to step up and perform in roles they didn't expect to take on.
Benji Gustafson, Thomas Koshman, Ross Breitkreuz, and Chris Trendall have finished their five years of eligibility and have been tremendous ambassadors of our school and hockey program.
Chris Trendall has played more games than any other ACAC Clipper hockey player, and both Gustafson and Koshman finished with point totals right around their career high.
"They will be missed, but have influenced the players around them greatly, and their impact will definitely be a lasting one," said a team spokesman.
Several young players thrived and improved beyond expectations by the end of season, which bodes well for the future of the Clippers.
"Currently we are working hard in the recruiting season and interest is increasing every year as the word spreads about our program, " said a spokesman.
