Men's Basketball

Gene Wolverton Gene Wolverton is entering his first season with the Clipper Men’s basketball team. Gene is one of Briercrest’s own—he grew up in Caronport and made significant contributions to the high school and college teams while he was a student. He says he’s looking forward to making equally significant contributions as the Clippers’ new head coach.

Gene has served as an assistant coach at the University of Waterloo and Trinity Western University, which has given him a tone that Briercrest Athletics believes will benefit the basketball program. With his experience and desire to see players reach their potential, Briercrest Athletics is extremely excited to see the work Gene is going to do.

Women's Basketball

Shane Sowden - ssowden@briercrest.ca

Shane Showden Shane is a graduate of Central Missouri State University and is currently the Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball coach at Caronport High School. Shane brings great enthusiasm and determination to the challenge of rebuilding the BC Women’s Basketball program. Undoubtedly, Shane has a significant task before him. However, we’re confident his character and work-ethic, matched with his ability to teach and develop athletes will allow him to rebuild our program in short order. Shane views the athletic realm as a great opportunity to develop character in athletes and to contribute to spiritual transformation in their lives. We are confident in his ability to help our athletes develop in these ways during their careers with us here at Briercrest College.

Men's Hockey

Terry Dyck - tdyck@briercrest.ca

Terry Dyck Terry Dyck is our first full-time coach of the Clipper hockey team. Dyck has the education, connections, experience, and passion to chart the next course for the hockey program. Dyck is a graduate of Briercrest Bible College (now Briercrest College and Seminary) and Trinity Western University. This will be Dyck’s second tilt as the head coach with Briercrest’s hockey program. He took on a grad internship in our athletic department in 1985-86, and as part of the internship, he coached the Clippers. Dyck has also coached at Trinity Western University, with the Delta Flyers of the BCJHL, the AAA Midget program in South Delta, the BC Winter Games U16 program, and the BC Best Ever U17 program. We are excited to welcome Terry Dyck to the program and look forward to his contributions to the department and school.

Men's Volleyball

Nigel Mullan - nmullan@briercrest.ca

Nigel Mullan Nigel is an alumnus of Briercrest Clipper Athletics and is in his third year coaching the men’s volleyball team. He came from Edmonton where he was involved with coaching at Taylor University/College while also managing a restaurant. Nigel is very excited to be taking on the new position of Associate Athletic Director of the Clipper Athletic Department in addition to his coaching role.

Women's Volleyball

Nolan Weinmaster - nweinmaster@briercrest.ca

Nolan WeinmasterNolan Weinmaster is beginning his first year as the Head Coach of the Women’s Volleyball Team. He has displayed a great passion for Briercrest Clipper Athletics as a player for the Men’s Volleyball team for the past 4 years while earning a Bachelor of Arts in General and Biblical Studies. Previous to joining the Clippers, he played volleyball at Taylor University in Edmonton. Nolan has had numerous experiences with Athletes in Action as well. A strong knowledge for the game and a desire to integrate faith with athletics will help his team reach their potential.

Joy Foreman As the Administrative Assistant, Joy Foreman is a definite strength behind the Athletic Department at Briercrest College. Originally from Ontario, she attended both Caronport High School and Briercrest College. She graduated with a B. A. in Christian Ministry from Briercrest College. Having been involved with Athletics at Briercrest for over ten years, her passion for athletics is shown by her keen interest in the student-athletes’ lives; athletically, academically, and personally.
